Fish: Elonichthys browni (Jackson). Lower Carboniferous. Norton, New Brunswick. Collector: R.F. Miller and J. McGovern, 1994. New Brunswick Museum (NBMG 9690). Specimen length 31 cm. Palaeoniscid fish belong to an extinct Order of the ray-finned fishes (Actinopterygii). Today the ‘bony fishes’ make up most of the world’s vertebrates, including 95% of the 25,000 species of fish.
