photograph: Albert Formation (Hammer for scale) at Norton, New Brunswick, 2006. New Brunswick Museum. The Lower Carboniferous flora recovered from the Albert Formation has a low diversity. Early lycopods trees make up over 90% of the vegetation in some places. A forest of almost 700 standing trees was described near Norton. The rocks are tilted exposing the rooted stumps of trees.
