Sylvinite: discovery of potash ore. Lower Carboniferous. Near Sussex, New Brunswick. New Brunswick Museum (NBME 1154). Artifact width 14 cm. Potash, from the Sussex area, N.B, presented to the New Brunswick Museum. This specimen of sylvinite was obtained from a depth of 965 feet in Plumsweep no. 1 drilled by the mineral resources branch, N.B. Dept. of Natural Resources in 1971. This was the first discovery of potash mineralization, N.B.
