George Matthew was employed for most of his career in the Customs House in Saint John. He was also a ‘temporary geologist’ with the Geological Survey of Canada and the leading geologist in the Natural History Society of New Brunswick. He published over 200 scientific papers about the geology and paleontology of Canada.
