Atlantic walrus: Odobenus rosmarus Linnaeus. Quaternary. Portage Island, Miramichi, New Brunswick. Collector: R.D. Young, 1968. New Brunswick Museum (NBMG 4584). Skull length 36 cm. Walrus fossils have been found all around the New Brunswick shoreline. This specimen was found in gravel, probably from an ancient shoreline. It is the youngest specimen in the New Brunswick Museum collection based on a radiocarbon age of about 2,900 years old.
