Ministers Island, St. Andrews
Visitors to St. Andrews-by-the-Sea often visit historic Ministers Island or stop at the Martello Tower. At both places the red sandstone of Perry Formation are a favorite place to scramble on the rocks at low tide. These rocks contain plant fossils in some places and were deposited in rivers that eroded the rising mountainous landscape of the Appalachians.
