Allen Seaman

Geological Surveys Branch, New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources

Today, geologists of the Province’s Geological Surveys Branch carry on the work begun by early pioneers in geology. Al Seaman is a Quaternary Geologist, responsible for mapping ice age deposits to understand our glacial history, locate sand and gravel resources and lay the groundwork for mineral exploration using the study of the movement of glaciers. Glaciers pick up gold and other elements and smear them across the landscape. Experts like Al Seaman can locate mineral deposits by tracing rare elements in soil or glacial debris, back to their point of origin.
