Uptown Saint John
The buildings of Uptown Saint John display a variety of Upper Carboniferous sandstone from quarries in eastern New Brunswick. Many of the buildings were constructed immediately following the 1877 Great Fire. A walk along historic Prince William Street allows an ‘urban’ geologist to examine Upper Carboniferous sandstone quarried from Albert, Westmorland and Northumberland counties.
