The Triassic age Honeycomb Point Formation is alluvial fan sequence composed of two rock types, conglomerate sandstone that coarsens upward to pebbly sandstone. Abraham Gesner identified these rocks as “New Red Sandstone” in 1840, an older term used to describe Triassic rocks.
