Algonquin, Riverside, and Kingswood Golf Courses
Residents of New Brunswick will recognize the familiar landscapes of Algonquin, Riverside, and Kingswood as golf courses. Cretaceous rocks are only found in one place in New Brunswick, in Kings County north of Cassidy Lake. Unless you have happened across it, the Cretaceous rocks of the Vinegar Hill Formation do not present a familiar landscape, unless you are a golfer. The white Cretaceous sand is quarried by Atlantic Silica Inc. to produce a variety of products from filters to construction sand, and also bunker sand for golf courses. The Algonquin, Riverside, and Kingswood golf clubs all use it.
