Back
Trace Fossil: Psammichnites gigas (Torell). Cambrian. Hanford Brook, New Brunswick. Collector: I. Patel and H. Hofmann, c. 1980. New Brunswick Museum (NBMG 4011). Specimen width 50 cm. Psammichnites is an Early Cambrian trace fossil often with a median furrow present along the burrow. It is thought that a siphon or snorkel projected upward as the animal burrowed through the sediment.
