Sand and Gravel
As glaciers moved across the province loose materials were scraped off of bedrock, carried and eventually deposited. There are deposits of sand, gravel and glacial till throughout the province that resulted from the expansion and retreat of glaciers. The products of these deposits are used today for road building and construction. Sand and gravel operations are located where deep deposits of loose material were left behind when the glaciers retreated. These sand and gravel operations are located throughout the province.
