Burnt Hill topaz. Devonian. Burnt Hill, New Brunswick. Collector: H. Durstling. New Brunswick Museum (NBMM 2538). Image width 12 cm. Samuel Freeze discovered wolframite in quartz veins at Burnt Hill in 1907. The Mine opened on the site and produced tungsten and tin from 1912 to 1918 and again between 1952-1957. Quartz veins at Burnt Hill contain the first recorded topaz in Canada.
