Hampstead ‘granite’: Evandale granodiorite. Devonian. Hampstead (Spoon Island), New Brunswick. Collector: R, Miller, 2008. New Brunswick Museum (NBMR 1787). Image width 18 cm. Quarrying began near Hampstead and Spoon Island beginning by at least the 1840s. Actually a granodiorite, this rock was used extensively for building foundations and a curbstone and cobblestone.
