Snail - Common whelk: Buccinum undatum Linnaeus. Quaternary. Saint John and Quaco, New Brunswick. Collector: G. Stead, c. 1900. New Brunswick Museum (NBMG 4208). Snail width 1 to 1.5 cm. The common whelk is found on the Atlantic coast from the Arctic to New Jersey, USA. These snails are often found in ice age sediments along the New Brunswick shoreline, dating from about 12,000 to 11,000 years old.
